SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 11, 2007 (KGO) - A complicated puzzle has been solved in Silicon Valley. The thing is, most of us had no idea the code even existed, or that some very smart people have been racing to decipher it. It's there for all of us to see in downtown San Jose. All you have to do is look up.
Revolving disks decorate the top of the Adobe building in downtown San Jose, sending out radio transmissions. What few people know is that each time these disks rotate they send out a coded message. The message has been going out for a year.
So after three weeks and a couple of hundred hours, they found out the year-long message is an entire book. It's also their prize.Mark Snerud: "The book is 'The Crying of Lot 49' by Thomas Pinchon."
