More HBO and Cinemax HD Channels coming to ATT UV

Those new HD channels pop up here in san jose, ca as well. But I rather have the  15 Voom HD Channels than More of the same old HBO and Cinemax  HD Channels.

Here is a write on our trip. \ Hope you enjoy.

 

NEW ZEALAND

 

    We found that New Zealand is the most beautiful and friendly place. A land of many sheep, even more possums, and even more boats. You can find the ocean within 100 miles of almost any point and a river or lake within 20 miles of where you stand. Quiet beyond imagination and traffic, well I saw more cars on the way home from the airport than I did in 23 days in New Zealand.
They have no snakes, poisonous spiders or predators of any kind. No poison oak or other itchy things. They have very good wines and great beer. They eat sensibly well and take to the outdoors when ever possible. Its spring there now and in most botanical parks and gardens you will find hundreds of Rhodadenerons in full bloom. Iris, Roses and everything a riot of color and grace. These are amazingly friendly and warm people who seemed to be very courteous drivers, pedestrians and trekkers. Just a truly wonderful place to visit. It was spring and so we had a little rain, some cold and an hour of snow. It didn’t bother or slow us down a minute.

 

   We started with and easy but long flight and were met by our guide Flavio at Auckland airport. NZBR Tours is extremely knowledgeable, resourceful and took great care of us. Quite reasonable costs and a very good value. I highly recommend them. After arriving at our hotel which was very that is well located and quite comfortable. We took a short ferry ride to the island of Waiheke. Then got a local bus and toured the very pretty island. Had a nice lunch by the seashore then took another ferry to the small community of Devonport. Again quaint shops beautiful Victorian homes and nice people. We met a family, talked a bit, and got invited to dinner. The next day we toured Auckland. Found a great shopping district called Parnell. We got a great wool sweater for $30. Then we did Mission Bay, The Winter Garden, and Mt Eden with its panoramic views. We also went to a Gannets colony on the Tasman Sea coast, and a neat winery. Matua winery has great Pinot”s.
Then headed for Rotorua with guide Bill doing the driving.. Along the way we stopped at a Kiwi bird park, Kuirau Park, the town of Ohinemutu and at the glow worm caves at Waitomo. Very interesting.
From there a side trip to Lake Taupo and bungy jumps, Craters of the moon, and the awesome Huka Falls. Back in Rotorua we went to a Maori Village and were entertained by the local people. Great songs/dance and folklore. Their village sits in an active geyser field. Food is cooked in the stream. Fresh hot water baths and all only a few feet from the door. The Museum there was very interesting with a quite dramatic earthquake effect demonstration. They have lakes that are brilliant blue and sparkling green. The Polynesian Spa is on Conde Nast’s top ten. We were pampered.
Then off the Wellington. Along the way on the Desert Road we trekked out over the volcanic tundra to Taranaki Falls. Quite a contrast in scenery. In Wellington we did Mt Victoria and took the cable car up to the Botanic gardens and observatory. Te Papa Museum was incredible and fascinating.

 

   From there we flew down to Christchurch. Again met Flavio who drove us around the South Island. There we found one of the most beautiful gardens, with an amazing variety of flowers mostly in full bloom. The have and Art Centre that used to be an English University right out a Hogsworth or Oxford. Great Arts and Crafts and a neat little café called Annies. The next day we toured Christchurch and went to the Antarctic Center where in a special chamber we experienced a below zero wind storm as is found in Antarctica. Then had a blast as they took us on a ride in the SnoCat over their obstacle course. Great fun. Next day we went down to Akaroa, a French village by the sea. Neat shops and some of the best art works I have ever seen in shops. Next day it was off to the south again and some interesting huge round boulders at the edge of the sea. Amazing. Just behind them swan dolphins within 15 feet of shore. In Dunedin we stayed at a great B & B Inn. One block from a great brewery. In Dunedin they have Baldwin Street that’s steeper than Lombard St in San Francisco. We took in the old train station that’s now a Museum and the old train up Taieri Gorge. Neat trip. Then on to Te Anau. The Otago Peninsula is rugged and beautiful. We stopped and saw yellowed eyed Penguin’s. Quite endangered and so it was a rare treat.
Te Anau like most Kiwi towns in on a beautiful Lake. Neat shops and its here after dinner walking to our hotel that snow fell.

 

    Next came Milford Sound. It was almost a spiritual experience. The beauty, sereneness and majesty are awesome. A never to be missed experience of a lifetime. On the way we stopped at Mirror Lakes and as most lakes in New Zealand one just stands in awe.
    Queenstown!. Imagine a cross between North Lake Tahoe and Zermatt. Sitting on a clear deep lake surrounded by snow capped Alps sits a village of wonderful shops and great places to eat. From the gondola high above you can try to catch your breath. This place is special in a land of awesome beauty. Just up the road is an old gold mining town complete with a Chinese miner's town.
    We then were off to Fox Glacier via Lake Wanaka. It’s a pretty place with a Puzzle World that unique and fun. Along the way we went to the original bungy jump bridge and some amazing Blue Pools. At the Glacier on the Wild West Coast we went to Lake Matherson and an old gold operation on the deserted beach. We took a helicopter ride up to the top and it was awesome. We then went to Mt Cook and found yet more Alpine beauty. Lakes so deeply green it seemed they must be painted. Salmon farms and majestic Alps. We had a great room there and looked straight out at the Mt before us.  On the way back we stopped in Gerldine at a neat car Museum. It was delightful and fun. Had a dish of Plum ice cream. Absolutely yummy.

 

Finally back in Christchurch we spent another day just strolling about the Botanical gardens and again had lunch at Annie's. The flight home was very easy and we slept peacefully most of the way.

 

    All in all a beautiful and lovely country but I would hope everyone will get to see. 23 days is not enough and I recommend at least 30 days so perhaps two trips are in order, one the North Island and One the South. Again our Thanks to Flavio at NZBR Tours for being so gracious, patient and professional. It really made it both easy and special. Don’t miss it.

More Specifics On AT&T's Cap Plans

Earlier this week, we reported that AT&T was planning a trail of caps and $1 per gigabyte overage fees in the Reno, Nevada market, with plans to expand the trial into one additional market before the end of the year. djrob writes in to note that AT&T has defined their new limits in more detail, and have confirmed that the caps will also impact their U-Verse VDSL service. The new usage allowances, according to AT&T's FAQ for trial participants

AT&T Basic (DSL only) Up-to 768 Kbps 20 GB per month
AT&T Express Up-to 1.5 Mbps 40 GB per month
AT&T Pro Up-to 3.0 Mbps 60 GB per month
AT&T Elite Up-to 6.0 Mbps 80 GB per month
AT&T Max (U-verse only) Up-to 10.0 Mbps 150 GB per month

Now This really bad business move for ATT. ATT should at least match Comcast Bandwidth Cap or offer higher Bandwidth Cap plan to stay competitive in the market place. I am now seriously thinking of switching back to Comcast for only Internet access. Their Tier 12/2 with 250gig cap for $52.99 a mouth is better deal then ATT MAX Tier 10/1.5 150gig cap for $55.
