San Jose Quakes Just won 2-1 over Philadelphia Union

The San Jose Earthquakes earned an opportunistic 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer action at PPL Park on Saturday evening.

The win was made possible because of a number of second-half saves by 'Quakes goalkeeper Jon Busch, who finished with seven in the game.

San Jose (6-4-4) scored both its goals in stoppage time, the first by Cornell Glen as the first half was winding down, and the second by Arturo Alvarez in the closing minutes of the game

Germany Beats Uruguay and Won the 3rd Place at FIFA World Cup

PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa - Sami Khedira's goal eight minutes from time capped a 3-2 Germany win over Uruguay in the third-place match of the FIFA World Cup at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

Khedira broke a 2-2 deadlock in the 82nd minute with a close-range header from a corner kick, but Uruguay had a 20-yard free kick right before the final whistle, and Diego Forlan watched it crash off the crossbar.

The Germans took the lead after 19 minutes through Thomas Muller, but his opener was canceled out nine minutes later by Uruguay's Edinson Cavani.

Forlan put Uruguay ahead six minutes into the second half, while Marcell Jansen leveled the match five minutes later for Germany before Khedira's goal settled things.

This is the second successive World Cup where Germany has finished in third place, while Uruguay's fourth-place finish in their best since 1970.

Happy Xmas in July from Comcast Bay Area With Another Rate Hike

Comcast Corp. said it is raising rates for California cable and Internet customers by an average of 3.8 percent starting Aug. 1.

The average video customer will see their monthly bill increase by $2.49 from $60.76 to $63.25 a month. Internet service will also increase for the first time in five years from $44.72 to $46.67 a month, a $1.95 increase.

Andrew Johnson, regional vice president for Comcast California, said the increase is necessary to pay for more programming choices, new features, faster Internet speeds and improvements to customer service.

 

This is why I am glad I made the switch to ATT U-Verse from Comcast way back in 12/07/2007. I am still saving an average of $40 dollar a mouth with ATT UV.
