Former KPIX-TV anchor Dave "Mac" McElhatton died from stroke related
illness Monday morning in Rancho Mirage, surrounded by loved ones.
Mac retired from CBS 5's anchor desk on November 30, 2000 after nearly
50 years on the airwaves at KCBS radio and KPIX television.
Mac was an Oakland native who was in one of the first classes from then
San Francisco State College and now San Francisco State University. He
used his G.I. Bill money to finance his education. He graduated in 1951
with a B.A. in liberal arts.
This is really sad news. I watch Dave "Mac" McElhatton as I Growing up
as kid in the 70's and watch him in my adult years through out 80s and
90's I am sure everyone in bay area will miss him.
