Chris Wondolowski scored three goals to lead the San Jose Earthquakes to a 3-0 victory over Chivas USA in Major League Soccer action at Buck Shaw Stadium on Wednesday night.

With the three-goal performance, Wondolowski becomes the single-season goal scoring leader in 'Quakes franchise history with 17 with a game to go in the regular season.

Wondolowski also tied Los Angeles Galaxy forward Edson Buddle for the MLS goal-scoring lead, with both teams in action in their respective regular season finales this weekend.

United last Saturday, the San Jose Earthquakes return to Buck Shaw Stadium to face the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. PT. The San Francisco Giants advanced to the National League Championship Series after a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field Monday evening.

The Giants, who won the best-of-five series against the Braves 3-1, avoiding a possible deciding game Wednesday in San Francisco, will face the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Saturday.

The Braves struck first in the bottom of the third inning when a one-out sacrifice fly by Braves slugger Brian McCann brought home Omar Infante.

The Giants tied the game with a Cody Ross home run in the sixth inning, but a McCann home run in the bottom half of the inning quickly gave the Braves the lead back.

The San Francisco Giants won the NL West on Sunday, by beating the San Diego Padres 3-0. The much awaited SF Giants NL West clinch came down the wire in the last day of the regular season. After the San Diego Padres take the first two game in the series that put the SF Giants against the wall.

The first run came from the unexpected contribution from SF Giants starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez when he hit a triple off San Diego Padres rookie Mat Latos. It was followed by an base hit of Freddie Sanchez allowing the San Francisco Giants starting pitcher to score the game's first run.

Aubrey HuffAubrey Huff followed with a double and allowed Freddie Sanchez to score another run score 2-0.

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster PoseyBuster Posey homered in the 8th inning that put them ahead to 3-0 score.

It is the first NL West division win for the San Francisco since 2003
