Dempsey scores in USA's historic win over Italy USA Beats Italy For First Time Ever, 1-0

Clint Dempsey's incredible season just got even better. He scored the United States' lone goal as the Americans held on for a historic 1-0 victory against Italy in an international friendly on Wednesday.

Jozy Altidore got the assist on Dempsey's goal in the 55th minute as the Americans claimed their first victory ever against host Italy. Dating to 1934, the Americans are 1-7-3 all-time in the series against the four-time World Cup champions.

"The goal is to qualify for the World Cup," Dempsey said after the game. "So it's important to come to places like this and play big teams on their own soil and get results. At times it wasn't pretty, but we grinded out the result tonight."

Dempsey, who has 16 goals this season for Fulham, is only the fourth U.S. player to score against Italy.

I cannot say how much it has helped to read them as they poured in. John and I thank you.

It is touching, but not surprising, to know how many lives she deeply affected and that she left behind mutual love and respect in all aspects of her life.

Mom left us Monday night, with family by her side, knowing she lived life to its fullest and getting every last mile out of her tired and spent body. Her heroism and bravery, grace and beauty, and unconditional love was a site to behold and will always be remembered.

As you all know, she was a remarkable woman. She will live on in our hearts,
and may her memory remind us all of what truly is good in this world.

I will be setting up a memorial for her in Big Basin State Park -where we spent countless weeks and months growing up in her beloved redwoods. In lieu of flowers you are welcome to contribute to it through the Semprevirens Fund at: www.semprevirans.org/tribute.php

Take care peg. You were A Beautiful and Wonderful Friend! I will miss you dearly. I really don't know. How I will cope in the next couple of days, weeks, mouths and years. When you pass on to the other side. You were the world to me. I were the best mom and my Only Mom I will ever know. Right now so miss you so much, I don't even want think of the thought of you leaving us so Quickly. Carry, Chuck, Jenny, Dave Lora. Will I be there by your side when the time comes for you to departs from this world.

As, I sit in this darken room and play my native america flutes by the bedside of peg. I feel I am able to say my proper goodbye to her. As soon as Peg leave this world I know she will be remembered all of us you love her dearly and all her family, friends, flash, John, Carrie, Jenny, chuck, Dave and Lora will be missed her.

As play my native flute and listening to Leo Laporte next to my mom window is comforting to me. Knowing she is enjoying me as I played by her side.

It's time to say our last goodbye to peg. May you rest in peace. You haved live a long prosperous life. One day, We will see you one the other side.

Peg has now passed on to her next stage in life. May you rest in piece. All of your family, friends, soccer, teachers. And especial your son John, sister Carrie, Dave, Lora, chuck and Jenny. It has been incredibly hectic of late as mom's condition has progressed. She is comfortable and at peace and looking forward to the next stage.

I apologize to all who are reading this news for the first time. I tried to send out initial emails to you all but apparently it didn't go through, and now I finally have a bit of time to write it all down.

In a nut shell, mom had a fever earlier in the week and saw her doctor Wednesday. It was discovered that she was in Bone Marrow failure, probably Acute Leukemia after all these years of treatment (14.5years!) or possibly invasion of the bone marrow by the Ovarian cancer. Either way, its untreatable.

Just 3 weeks ago, after a 2 month drug holiday from Chemotherapy, her blood counts were low normal. Now, her White blood cells and platelets were nearly non-existent. We had redrawn her blood on Thursday in hopes of transfusing some Red Blood cells to make her more comfortable but found that her counts were significantly worse. Obviously this is a very aggressive change. She started Hospice Friday/yesterday.

Currently she is Very tired, but in good spirits. She's at peace and is ready to move on.

She knows the love from all of you for her is boundless. Today, she had enough strength to read through most of her emails. She sends you all her love and thanks for all for everything you've done to make her life as valuable and rewarding as she could have ever hoped for.

Talking wears her out, so emails are good. (She doesn't want any calls or visitors.) Emails she can read them as she's able, although she's so tired now I doubt she'll read anymore.

I expect her to pass very soon.

So again, I'm sorry I couldn't get word out sooner to many of you so you could write to her, but don't worry. She has never doubted your love for her. And she is at peace.

If you still want to write her a note you can send your love and prayers to her directly or to me. I'll definitely try and read a few to her if she's interested/able. Just sending your love through the universe is enough for now.

Jenny and John have been incredible (as well as myself) in handling this quick change. We are comforted knowing we had over 14 incredible extra years with her and that her (recent) suffering will quickly be over. We have had time to say good bye and get everything in order. She has been incredible in accepting her fate and letting us take care of her here. She Knows she's incredibly loved. Thank you all.

I'll be arranging a party soon to celebrate her life. Probably in the next few weeks.

In lieu of flowers and such you are more than welcome to contribute to the purchase of a redwood grove or bench in Big Basin State Park in her honor. We are working on the details of how to go about this, so more on this later.

Again, mom loves you all. She looks forward to meeting us all again when we finally come to join her beyond the stars.
